Description

In the Australian fauna, some groups have been given Biocodes, such as the Census of Australian Vertebrate Species (CAVS) for Amphibia, Aves, Mammalia (Eutheria, Marsupialia, Prototheria) and Reptilia and Codes for Australian Aquatic Biota (CAAB) for aquatic organisms, mainly fishes.1

 

The CAVS searchable database contains codes and information on distribution, taxonomy, ecology and bibliography, and links to the Australian Faunal Directory.
